Parliament member Oheo Sinapoy says his generation's
time is coming to lead Indonesia. The representative from southeast
Sulawesi is 37 years and a member of the Golkar Party.
The country's first international English-language news program has moved to a new time.
"Indonesia Now," co-anchored by Dalton Tanonaka and Frida Lidwina, is seen on Saturdays at 9 a.m. and Sundays at 1 a.m. The move was made in response to viewer feedback and the desire to reach a bigger audience.
"We listened to our domestic viewers who want a more leisurely Saturday morning,” said Tanonaka. “Our international audience will continue to get the program at times provided by their local broadcaster.”
"Indonesia Now" provides the week's top news stories in Indonesia and Asia, along with regular segments that take a closer look at the country that's home to more Muslims than anywhere else in the world. "IndoBiz" reports on corporate and market developments; "Destination Indonesia" takes viewers to scenic and historic locations throughout the archipelago; and "Islam Today" is an objective look at the contemporary practice of religion.
"Indonesia Now" debuted September 1, 2006, and is seen throughout the world by satellite and the internet, including in Japan on NHK. It can also be seen in real-time live streaming on the program’s website at www.metrotvnews.com/indonesianow. Archived programs are available for post-broadcast viewing.
The personalities of Metro TV's weekly international program are Andini Effendi, Frida Lidwina and Dalton Tanonaka. The English-language broadcast will celebrate its third anniversary on September 1.
